Drypoints

Drypoints for direct engraving, on unvarnished plates: diamond points, ceramic points, carbide points in 2 versions:

  • - Diamond drypoints can be considered as the reference drypoints. They allow you to work both grays and blacks, and incise copper or zinc without difficulty. The flexibility of work is remarkable. The only defect concerns the fragility of the junction between the diamond and the steel of the rest of the point. They need to be held quite vertically.
  • - The ceramic drypoint: Even softer than the diamond but less incisive, it has the particularity of making very soft burrs. It often becomes the favorite point of engravers, but needs to be accompanied by a more incisive point for deep blacks.
  • - Carbide drypoints exist in two different sharpenings. The very incisive version marks the copper more deeply than the diamond, and is very suitable for specific work of blacks, with nice regular burrs. The standard carbide can be an alternative to the diamond tip if you do not want to risk breakage.
